Welcome to Comms for Kids Education
Empowering Confident Communicators, Critical Thinkers and Changemakers

As an experienced primary school teacher with a wider career background in politics, public affairs and communications, Alison’s tutoring helps children to more confidently communicate through all forms of literacy support.  She believes that every child’s voice matters and that every child has the right to reach their fullest potential.  Alison also provides democracy learning for small groups of all ages and designs educational resources to ensure everyone has the knowledge and skills to influence change.

Literacy Tutoring

Does your child need time away from busy classrooms to strengthen their literacy skills?  If so, Comms for Kids individual tutoring is here for you.

Whether it’s reading, writing or listening and talking, all learning is tailored to your child’s needs and interests and to help them more confidently communicate their ideas, thoughts and voice.

In her classrooms and through her tutoring, Alison has a knack for inspiring children to learn and in a variety of creative ways and for encouraging their thinking skills across texts and topics.  Ultimately, she builds their confidence as readers, writers, presenters, contributors, reporters, debaters, leaders, citizens and more.

Alison tutors children and young people from P3 through to S1/2 support.  Each session lasts for one hour at a cost of £30.  Tutoring can be delivered online, with in person being available in a Gourock venue. Small groups of 3-4 can also be facilitated at £20 a session.  The first lesson is free and a pay it forward system is available to help others through pro bono provision.

Democracy Learning

Democracy and citizenship learning is available to small groups of all ages, coupled with literacy and communications support. It seeks to build knowledge and skills and to ensure that everyone has the tools to effectively influence change.

The sessions encourage children and adults to explore and debate the issues that matter to them and to learn about the different ways in which they can influence change, whether through school, community, local and national decision making processes. And importantly, how to ensure accountability for that change.

Delivered online, the sessions are available to school and home education learners as well as community groups of all ages who are in need of this support. In person sessions can be delivered on discussion.

All sessions are age appropriate and tailored to the needs of each group. Costs are available on discussion and in response to those needs
